The Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco band is headed to the biggest stage in Texas high school marching.

The Badgers band was selected as first place grand champions at the University Interscholastic League Class 2A Area E marching band contest at Gregory-Portland Saturday and is heading to the state contest in the San Antonio Alamodome in November. A total of 11 bands were competing in the Class 2A area level, including Premont and Three Rivers.

A week earlier, Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco received a score of straight 1’s at the regional marching band contest at Sinton High School.

It is the first time in more than 15 years that the Badger band is competing at the state level.

The Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco band is led by Adan and Enedina Rodriguez Salinas, who took over the program this year.

The UIL state marching competition is at the San Antonio Alamodome on Nov. 6.
