The Texas Department of Public Safety seized more than 22 pounds of methamphetamine Wednesday after a Texas Highway Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle in Carson County.
At approximately 2:32 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2015 Honda Accord traveling east on Interstate 40 near Conway for a traffic violation. A DPS canine unit arrived on scene and alerted on the vehicle. The trooper then discovered two fire extinguishers in the trunk containing methamphetamine wrapped in plastic bags.
The driver, Jesus Sanchez, 24, of Ontario, California, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, according to a report.
Sanchez was transported and booked into the Carson County jail. Drug Enforcement Administration special agents and DPS special agents responded and assisted with the case.
The drugs allegedly were being transported from Los Angeles to an unknown destination.
