City of Alice staff monitored a conference call with the National Weather Service at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday.

The public is advised to begin preparations for additional flooding rains due to tropical system “Invest 95-1” located in the western Caribbean. The system is forecast to approach the Texas coast in the coming days. At this point the system is not expected to be a strong wind event.

Alice residents in low lying areas subject to flooding must take precautions to plan for such rainfall and flooding. Rainfall will continue primarily in the morning and night in the next two days, and totals of 4 to 6 inches or more due to the tropical system are possible beginning Friday through the weekend.
Area residents should be cautious of potential rural and urban flooding that will cause hazardous driving conditions.

Sandbags will be available to City of Alice residents starting at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 13th at the City of Alice Recycle Center located at 103 W. Third. Please bring your water bill for proof of residency.
The City of Alice will continue to monitor weather conditions and will take action as necessary
