On Monday, Judge Pete Trevino and the county commissioners' approved a resolution to accept a grant of $48,000 from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Texas Community Facilities Fire and Rescue Grant.
The money is a reimbursement for a fire/brush truck the Orange Grove Volunteer Fire Department purchased in March for $189,972.
The fire truck helps with fires in the rural properties that surrounded the town. It replaced the department's decade old brush truck.
The state-of-the-art Freightline brush truck holds 1,522 gallons of water and has foam capability.
When the OGFD received the truck they donated one of their older brush trucks to the Premont Volunteer Fire Department.
According to Trevino, the money will be used to get Premont and Orange Fire Department's much needed equipment.
