BENAVIDES - The National Rifle Association (NRA) Foundation has awarded the Benavides Police Department a grant totaled at $3,679.94 to fund equipment for the officers.

"We are very excited about the BPD equipment grant from the NRA," said Benavides Police Chief Corey Martinez, "and pleased that the NRA is making an investment in our community."

The objective in applying for this grant is to give Benavides police officers the necessary equipment to safely and more effectively address dangerous criminal occurrences.

“Our officers stand between violent predators and the people upon whom they prey. With this generous award from NRA, we can ensure that our officers have the most up-to-date equipment and training to safeguard the citizens of Benavides and their visitors.” Chief Martinez said.
