SAN DIEGO - Despite the cold temperature, the children of Duval County and surrounding communities spent Saturday entertained with games and food at the annual Spring Festival.

The Duval County Child Welfare Board invited the community to their annual event held at the Plaza Alcala on 200 West Gravis in San Diego.

The purpose was to raise community awareness of child abuse and prevention. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Child abuse is a global problem with more than 3 million reports of child abuse each year in the United States. Raising awareness of the problem is a big part of the solution to get people to speak up when they suspect a child has been abused.
