Alice police arrested two men recently on burglary charges that occurred in the City of Alice.
Burglary of a Vehicle
Joe Anthony Morin was apprehended for a burglary of a vehicle charge Saturday, March 3. Officers with the Alice police were dispatched to a business on the 2700 block of East Main Street on Jan. 12.
When officers arrived they made contact with the victim who reported that while they were in the store an unknown person had stolen a portable DVD player from their vehicle. Through the investigation detectives learned that the unknown suspect, later identified as Morin, had taken the stolen item to a local pawn shop, according to police.
Morin was also connected to burglaries that occurred at two other local businesses on the 1200 block of East Main Street and the 1000 block of Cecelia Street. Morin is alleged to have taken several watches with a value at more than $600 along with change and sunglasses.
He was booked into the Jim Wells County jail.
Burglary of Habitation
Noe Omar Castillo was arrested in connection with a burglary that occurred on the 2000 block of South Reynolds in Sept. of 2017.
When officers were called to the residence several eye witnesses told them that a man, later identified as Castillo, was seen committing the burglary. Castillo is accused of taking jewelry, an Xbox and a pistol, according to police.
Castillo was apprehended in Corpus Christi and refused to cooperate with police. He was transported to the JWC jail and charged with burglary of a habitation and theft of a firearm.
