Criminal Mischief

Two men were arrested Wednesday on the 1000 block of North King Street. When police arrived at the residence they spoke with Leo Anthony Garza who stated he had problems with his daughter's boyfriend, Brandon Alberto Saenz.

On this day, Garza saw Saenz driving down the street and cut him off. He than got out of his vehicle and used a bat to hit Saenz's vehicle. He went on to tell police that Saenz drove off. Saenz returned to strike Garza's vehicle with his own as Garza hid behind a tree.

Police learned that Saenz had two children in his vehicle, putting them in unnecessary danger, while he crashed into Garza's car.

Saenz refused to be handcuffed and became irate as he was transported to the Jim Wells County jail. Saenz was placed in a restraint chair at the jail. Garza was also arrested and transported to the JWC jail.

Saenz was charged with criminal mischief, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and child endangerment. Garza was charged with criminal mischief.

Routine traffic stop

An Alice police officer conducted a traffic stop on the 100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. As the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the officer observed an item being tossed out the window. An assisting officer recovered a bag of synthetic marijuana from the area.

The two occupants, Julian Martinez and Christopher Smithwick, exited the car. They both denied ownership of the drugs and were transported to the JWC jail. They were charged with possession of a controlled substance.
