A business on the 1000 block of Flournoy reported a theft Monday that occurred back in 2015. According to the company, a former employee had stolen an excavator. They recently observed the excavator. According to police, the property owner claims he borrowed the equipment from a friend who passed away. No one has been arrested and the case if under investigation.
Wanted man arrested
Javier Cervantes was arrested Tuesday for several warrant out of Alice. Cervantes was wanted for aggravated assault, assault causing bodily injury, and two counts of engaging in organized criminal activity on the 600 block of East Third Street.
Cisco Rodriguez was arrested after a traffic stop near Third Street and North King Street. When officers made contact with Rodriguez they detected a strong odor of marijuana. Rodriguez told the arresting officer that he had marijuana in his pocket. During the pat down officers found the bag of marijuana and a bag of cocaine. Rodriguez was taken to the JWC jail.
Drugs in the Cookie Jar
On Monday Alice police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Easterling for a suspicious vehicle. When they arrived they found Eric Zavala asleep behind the wheel. A search of the vehicle led to a cookie jar that contained five bags of marijuana, two empty bags, $93 and a marijuana cigarette. Zavala was taken to the JWC jail.
Victim knocks out suspect
Officers arrived at a residence on the 2000 block of South Cameron Sunday for an assault call. When officers arrived they made contact with the victim who stated Anthony Amador mistook him for his brother and pulled out a knife. The victim punched Amador in the face knocking him to the ground. The victim took a knife from Amador.
Amador was later found by officers nearby. He was taken to the hospital and than transported to the JWC jail. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest.
