An 88-year-old Dallas woman was killed from injuries she sustained during a two vehicle accident on Highway 281 on Saturday, Feb. 4.
Corpus Christi-Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating the crash that occurred at approximately 2:04 a.m. approximately six miles south of Premont.
Preliminary investigation, by DPS, revealed that a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV was traveling south on Highway 281 as a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix passenger car also traveled south on Highway 281.
The driver of the Chevrolet lost control of the vehicle in the wet and rainy conditions and went into a side skid in front of the Pontiac, causing the driver to take evasive action and also went into a side skid.
Both vehicles veered off the highway and rolled multiple times, according to DPS.
The driver and four passengers in the Pontiac Grand Prix were transported to Christus Spohn Kleberg Hospital in Kingsville with minor injuries.
The driver and two passengers in the Tahoe were transported to Christus Spohn Alice.
Felipe Lucio a passenger in the Tahoe, was flown by Halo Flight to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi where she later died from her injuries.
Troopers are further investigating the crash at this time.
