Alice Rotary Club members listened to a summary about the evolution on the Eagle Ford Shale (EFS).
EFS is quite possibly the largest single economic development in the history of the state of Texas and ranks as the largest oil and gas development in the world based on capital invested, according to EagleFordShale.com. EFS had more than a $60 billion dollar impact on the local South Texas economy in 2012.
On Wednesday, Feb. 1 Geologist Gregg Robertson explained how the EFS changed the landscape of South Texas and the huge gross in prosperity.
Robertson gave an overview of the EFS starting from the discovery to the inaccuracy of 2008 findings, and the statics on cultural change and economic impact.
According to Robertson , 25,000 more wells will be drilled over the next 20 years.
“The future is unknown,” he stated. “This isn't our grandfather's South Texas, but it is important that we don't let (it end.)”
