Duval County General Elections unofficial final numbers have given the residents of San Diego a new Mayor and two new City Council members.

Araseli “Sally” Lichtenberger became the new Mayor with 67.93 percent of votes. Incumbent Rupert Canales III had 19.13 percent, David Anthony Ramos had 5.02 percent and Alonzo Lopez Jr. received 7.93 percent.

“The citizens of San Diego came out to vote and wanted change,” Lichtenberger stated. “I want to bring the city and my hometown back to what it was.”

According to Lichtenberger, she is ready to work with all entities to tackle issues the citizens of San Diego are concerned with especially the streets.

Araceli “Shelly” Gaitan won Place 4 on the San Diego City Council with 68.11 percent of the votes over Incumbent Maria Agapita Luna's 31.89 percent.

City Council Place 5 will now be seated by Margarito Maldonado III who had 63.57 percent. His opponent Jose “Frankie” Briones III had 36.43 percent of the votes.

Constable Precinct 2 had Ramiro Perez at 77.48 percent and Jose Salinas Jr. with 22.52 percent.

Benavides Council Place 2 race between Tj Vilet at 12. 42 percent and Alonzo Saenz with 87.58 percent. Place 3 race between Gregory Kipple II received 15.12 percent and Juan Garcia with 84.88 percent.

Tax Assessor-Collector - Roberto Elizondo

County Commissioner Precinct 1- Alejo C. Garcia

County Commissioner Precinct 3 – David Garza

County Attorney - Baldemar F. Gutierrez

Sheriff - Romeo R. Ramirez

Constable Precinct 1 - Bruno E. Valdez

Constable Precinct 2 - Ramiro G. Perez

Constable Precinct 3 - Raul Oliveira III

Constable Precinct 4 - Arturo G. Martinez

County Chairman - Ruben (Ben) Garza

San Diego ISD School Board:

Trustee Place 1 - Manuel Molina received 53.64 percent of votes over Incumbent Rupert Canales Jr.'s 46.36 percent.

Trustee Place 4 – Incumbent Rene Valerio will remain in his School Board position. He received 50.98 percent of votes. His opponents Antonio (Trey) Contreras III had 12.26 percent and Tomasita C. (Tommie) Salinas had 36. 77 percent.

Unopposed – Trustee Place 2 Carlos (Cale) Espinoza and Place 3 Pete A. Guerra.

Freer ISD Trustee Place 1 winner is Steve McQuaqqe with 58.79 percent over Anna Andrea Garcia's 41.21 percent. Orlando Navarro had 24.56 percent of the votes for Freer ISD Place 2 and his opponet Debra Martinez had 75.44 percent of the votes.

Director, Precinct 4, Groundwater race between Leonel Garza and John “Bubba” Smith was won by Garza. Garza had 57.42 percent over Smith's 42.58 percent. Trustee, Place 1 Ramirez was between Jorge Chavera at 81.25 percent and Roel Garcia at 18.75 percent.
