Suspected thief arrested
On Sunday officers were notified of a man, later identified as Jose Angel Palacios, who attempted to take several items from a business on the 2700 block of East Main Street. Officer John De Leon observed a man fitting the suspect's description and made contact. While patting down Palacios the officer felt an object in his pocket. The officer removed a can that was burnt on one end and had a brown cotton swab with brown residue. De Leon also found a syringe with brown residue believed to be heroin. Palacios was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Jim Wells County jail.
Officer finds narcotics during traffic stop
During a routine traffic stop Sunday Officer Jose Saldivar made contact with George Ortiz who drove a red Ford Mustang. Saldivar was notified that Ortiz had several warrants. A search of Ortiz's vehicle lead to the discovery of a bag of synthetic marijuana. He was transported to the JWC jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Suspect arrested with stolen property
A theft at a business on the 1100 block of East Main Street on Saturday lead to the arrest of Jorge Gerardo Villarreal. Villarreal was seen on Fourth and Dickey Street Officers made contact with Villarreal who had several meat packages, a silver pipe burnt at the tip and a cigarette box filled with baking soda. According to Villarreal, he had used the inhalation pipe earlier to smoke crack cocaine. Villarreal also had three active warrants. He was taken to the JWC jail and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, theft and the warrants.
George arrested for pills
Cpl Julian Cavazos observed a man walking towards a parked vehicle Friday on the 1100 block of East Main Street and looked inside. When the man, later identified as Kerry Neal George Jr., saw the patrol unit he attempted to hide behind a truck and also dropped an item into the bed of the truck. The officer made contact with George and looked into the bed where he found a small aluminum can with 11 pills inside; Xanax and Vayvanse. George was transported to the JWC jail. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
