Collins-Parr Elementary hosted their inaugural “Sweet Meet” on Friday, Oct. 21.
Principal Fatima Garcia, had a vision to invite parents into the campus for a non-threatening situation with no strings attached to show students that their parents are invested and supportive of them and their school.
Collins-Parr parents did exactly this. The school had more than 400 parents attended the event. Parents and children were given a donut or muffin to sit with their children.
Garcia and her administrative team were very pleased with the turnout of this event and they are planning to host the event again in the spring with different grade levels on different days for a bigger turnout.
Collins-Parr Elementary is very grateful for the support the San Diego community always offers to the school, Garcia stated.
