Benavides - Texas A & M AgriLife Extension Service from Duval County along with the Healthy South Texas Agent Marisa Dimas applied for a computer grant through Health and Human Service Commission, Office of Border Affairs.

Leo Vela approved and delivered five new computers on Oct. 13 to the Texas A & M AgriLife Extension office in Benavides.

Each civic center will receive a computer that will be accessible to the community to apply for state and federal benefits (food stamps, Medicaid, TANF, Unemployment, and Social Security benefits). The future use of the computers will be to hopefully offer the community the opportunity for online GED and ESL courses.
