Gaspar Garza Garcia, born September 8, 1933 in Beeville, Texas, passed away at age 83 on October 18, 2016 in Austin, Texas.
Gaspar spent the early part of his life working in the oil field industry. Eventually, he moved to Dallas, Texas where he owned and operated a successful trucking business for many years. Later in life he returned to Alice and started a lawn maintenance business which he operated until he retired. H was a proud homeowner who loved sitting on his back porch and enjoying the outdoors. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboy fan who enjoyed sitting in his recliner and watching every game.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Estella Garcia and a grandson, Steven Anthony Garcia.
Gaspar is survived by his children, Viola Ramirez and husband, Rolando of Austin, Texas, Gaspar “Bobby” Garcia, Jr. and wife, Sammie of Grand Prairie, Texas, Alfredo “Fred” Garcia and wife Linda of Kingwood, Texas, Helen Salaz and husband Efraein of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Carlos Daniel (Christina) Martinez of Corpus Christi, Texas, Amy Elizabeth (Jonathan) Freeman of Houston, Texas, Melissa (Juan) Pena, Ramon (Yesenia) Garcia, Michelle Garcia, of Grand Prairie, Texas; Stephanie Garcia of Kingwood, Texas Robert (Melissa) Garcia and Roland Garcia of Houston, Texas and 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Bodie (Alfredo) Garza of Alice, Texas, Bea (Mario) Zarate and Elma McGinnis of Houston, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Garcia’s family expresses sincere gratitude and appreciation to Regional Home Health in Alice for the many years of excellent care and service, and to the steller staff at Pflugerville Care Center, who became his extended family while providing his care. Sincere thanks also goes to Kindred Hospice, Austin, for providing compassionate care during the last chapter of his life.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016, from 5 to 9 pm at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, Texas with a Rosary being recited at 7pm that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Collins Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Ramon Garcia, Robert Garcia, Fred Garza, Carlos Daniel Martinez, Eric Morales and Jonathan Freeman.
