A 41-year-old Alice man was fatality shot in the early Sunday morning hours in San Antonio by his younger brother.

Officers responded to the Northeast Baptist Hospital for two brothers who had been shot.

The victim, Eric Zavala, had a single gunshot wound to his abdomen.

According to San Antonio Police Department's press release, Rocky Zavala, 33, had shot himself in the left hand when the bullet passed through Rocky's hand and hit Eric.

Eric was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to SAPD, Eric drove in to an apartment complex with Rocky (front seat passenger) and two other passengers. Rocky, and witnesses, told police that Rocky had fired his handgun into the air out of his passenger window.

After Eric was shot he crashed into the fence at the complex. A witness moved Eric's body and drove the two brothers to the hospital.

Police found the handgun inside the truck that was in the hospital parking lot.

Rocky was arrested and charged with manslaughter. He had a $20,000 and was released on Sunday at 12:05 p.m. from the Bexar County jail.
