The 24-year-old driver of a white truck was transported to the hospital after a single vehicle accident on 500 block South Highway 281 Wednesday morning.

Cesar Nacianceno of Edinburg was traveling southbound on Highway 281. According to police, Nacianceno who is with the military had been stationed in Colorado and was traveling home.

He fell asleep at the wheel and veered to the right striking the guard rail, police said. 

According to police, the cause of the accident was driver fatigue.

Nacianceno was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, police stated.

The driver was cited for failure to maintain single lane and no insurance.
