Two men were arrested during a routine traffic stop on the 300 block of Rankin Avenue when both men denied ownership of heroin located in the vehicle. Cpl. Julian Barrera IV  made contact with Joe Michael Flores and Ronald Salinas. A search of the vehicle was conducted. The officer located a small bag that contained heroin  between the driver seat and the middle seat. Both men denied ownership. They were taken to the Jim Wells County jail. They were charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Sandoval arrested for violation of protective order

Alice police officers were dispatched to the 900 block of East First Street on Sunday for a violation of a protective order. Upon arrival Officer Juan Flores met the victim who stated Gilberto Sandoval had been in the area earlier in the day. As Flores spoke with the victim he saw Sandoval down the street.

Assisting Officer Isaac Salinas made contact with Sandoval on the 1000 block of East First Street in a shed. The officer detected an odor of synthetic marijuana. As Flores questioned Sandoval Officer Salinas found a bag of synthetic marijuana and a burnt marijuana cigarette.

Sandoval was arrested and transported to the JWC jail. He was charged with the violation of a protective order and possession of a controlled substance.

Pedestrian stop

On Sunday Officer Jose Sandoval was on patrol when he saw Ian Guzman run into a brush covered area on the 200 block of North Aransas Street. The officer made contact with Guzman who gave consent to the search of his person. The officer discovered a bag of marijuana in Guzman's right jean pocket. Guzman was transported to the JWC jail. He was charged with possession of marijuana.
