Cub Scouts Pack 396 competed in The Pinewood Derby on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Bowden Ford in Alice.

This is the second time the derby has been held in Alice at the dealership.

“The derby gives parents and their cub scout a chance to bond as they work together in creating their car,” said Cub Master Miguel Casarez. “The event promotes creativity especially when working to build their vehicle.”

By participating in the event the children can let their imagination run wild and challenge themselves to make a track worthy vehicle, he stated.

Packs 93, 400, 125 and 73 participated. There was music by Vanessa DJ's Service, food and fun.

Casarez thanks the South Texas Council for the racetrack and the parents for their dedication to their scouts.
