Jose Francisco Arredondo was arrested on Thursday during a routine traffic stop near the intersection South King Street and Beckman. The officer made contact with the passenger and the driver, Arredondo. When the passenger attempted to retrieve the insurance information from the glove box a plastic bag fell out.

When the officer searched the vehicle he located a needle with heroin and a bag that contained three individual bags of cocaine. Arredondo took ownership of the narcotics. He was transported to the Jim Wells County jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Mother arrested for leaving son alone

A welfare check was conducted at a home Wednesday on the 700 block of Glendale when it was discovered that a 3-year-old child was left unattended by his mother. Officers were called and searched the home for the mother. While officers were at the residence the mother, Erika Michelle Garcia arrived. She told the officer that she had left the child to run an errand. Garcia was arrested and transported to the JWC jail.

More than 40 Xanax pills uncovered

On Tuesday at approximately 8 p.m. the driver of a Dodge Ram truck failed to stop at a designated point. Officer Julian Cavazos conducted a traffic stop. Contact was made with driver, Jorge Hurtado who stated his license had been suspended but was unsure if it was valid again considering he had paid surcharges.

Hurtado also told the officer he had several pills in the car. The officer located a bag that contained cocaine and a second bag with approximately 43 Xanax pills. Hurtado was arrested and charged with driving while license invalid and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the JWC jail.

Passed out woman

Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of South Stadium on Tuesday morning in reference to a passed out woman. Officer Mario Hinojosa located the woman later identified as Samantha Josephine Everett. Everett had particles of a green leafy substance on her shirt.

When Everett stepped out of the vehicle the officer saw two half smoked marijuana cigarettes. Everett told the officer the cigarettes contained synthetic marijuana. Also found was a synthetic marijuana cigarette in Everett's purse. She was transported to the JWC jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Burglary suspects arrested

Officers were dispatched to a business on the 100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard for an alarm. When they arrived they were notified that two suspects had broken into the business and stolen a Yeti. The two suspects were seen on surveillance footage. One of the men was identified as Mark Rochester.

Officers recovered the stolen property in a bush nearby. Officers noticed Rochester inside a vehicle that passed by the building during the investigation. The vehicle was stopped and Rochester was arrested. Also in the vehicle was Henry Martinez who was bleeding from his hand and matched the description of the second suspect in the surveillance video.

Rochester and Martinez were charged with burglary of a building and taken to the JWC jail.

Marijuana and a gun found

Arturo Resendez was arrested for possession of marijuana and unlawful carry of a weapon on Monday morning during a routine traffic stop. When the officer approached Resendez he could smell a strong odor of marijuana. Resendez told the officer he placed the marijuana under his seat. Also found were five small pieces of burnt marijuana cigarettes and a hand gun in the glove box. Resendez was transported to the JWC jail.
