A single vehicle accident claimed the life of a 49-year-old Freer man Saturday morning just west of San Diego, according to Department of Public Safety Trooper Nathan Brandley.

Alvaro Salinas Jr. and his wife, Rachel Salinas, were traveling west in a 2003 Chevy Silverado on Highway 44 when the Salinas' wife lost control.

According to Brandley, the driver veered off the road, over corrected and overturned.

Alvaro Salinas Jr. was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Rachel Salinas was evaluated by EMS at the scene but did not go to the hospital.

According to Brandley, the accident is under investigation but they do not believe alcohol was a factor.
