The first week of early voting in Jim Wells County as brought out more than a thousand voters to the four polling locations in the county, according to Thursday's numbers.

JWC residents along with the nation began voting on Tuesday and will continue through Feb. 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in various locations.

On Tuesday, there were 444 democrats and 49 republicans who voted for a total of 493 votes. On Wednesday, there were 325 democratic votes and 43 republican votes; a total of 368. On Thursday, there was a total of 349; 308 democrats and 41 republicans.

According to Maria Antonia "Toni" Kuhlman, Elections Administrator, Friday's numbers were unavailable due to problem with the Secretary of State's electronic system.

Precinct One, all voting precincts at the Jim Wells County Courthouse located on 200 North Almond Street in Alice. The courthouse will also be open for early voting on Saturday, Feb. 20 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Precinct Two, all voting precincts can vote at the Orange Grove City Hall at 310 West Pundt Avenue in Orange Grove.

Precinct Three, all voting precincts can vote at the Premont City Hall located at 200 Southwest First Street.

Precinct Four, all voting precinct Jim Wells County Fresh Water District on 114 Salazar in Ben Bolt.

Election Day will be March 1 with voting hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at several locations. Voters must remember to have a valid Identification Card or a valid Driver's License.
