Duval County Sheriff's Office Investigators have charged two 20-year-old San Diego residents after a thorough investigation for burglaries of home and vehicles within the city.

Shakeria Lynn Perez, 28, and Jose Gallegos III, 23, were charged with burglary of a habitation and theft of firearm.

Perez was arrested by San Diego Police Department on a possession of a controlled substance by Officer Stephanie Cavazos and was taken to the Duval County jail.

According to police officials, the suspects are believed to have entered two separate homes in and around the 800 block of Reforma Street and the 400 block of Santa Maria Street.

Gallegos learned of that he was wanted on a warrant and turned himself in.

Investigators recovered some stolen property from both burglaries. The property was returned to the owners.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests may follow. Perez and Gallegos face more charges as the investigation continues.

They were transported to the Duval County Jail. As of Friday afternoon the two individuals remain in county jail.

Perez has a bond total of $38,500 and Gallegos has a bond total of $12,500.
