A drive-by shooting lead to the arrest of two Premont men on Monday by law enforcement.

At approximately 2:20 p.m. Jim Wells County investigators were called out to a drive-by shooting that occurred on Farm-to-Market 716. When investigators and Premont PD arrived they spoke with a witness who took investigators to a stretch of road where two shotgun shells lay.

JWC Sgt. Ernie Rivera received the description of the suspects' vehicle as a white Mercury Mountaineer from the witness.

As the investigation began, Rivera continued his patrol while searching for the suspected vehicle. According to Rivera, he came across a suspicious vehicle as he watched from a distance.

A routine traffic stop was conducted by the deputy on a blue passenger vehicle. According to Rivera, he noticed the vehicle had a shotgun blast to the back of the driver's side rear passenger door and quarter panel as he approached the driver.

During a roadside interview with the driver, Rivera learned that 22-year-old Omar Garcia and 26-year-old Jesse A. Garcia pulled him over on the county jail.

The driver told the deputy that one of the men assaulted him while the other man shot the vehicle, Rivera stated.

About two hours later, Premont PD arrested Jesse Garcia at a Premont residence. He was transported to the JWC jail.

A Duval County deputy notified JWC investigators at approximately 6 p.m. that they had detained Omar Garcia at a San Diego residence.

Omar was transported to the Jim Wells County jail.

According to Rivera, through the investigation deputies believe another person may be involved.

Omar and Jesse Garcia were charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

As of Thursday afternoon, Omar and Jesse remain in the county jail with $30,000 each.
