On Saturday, Jan. 9 Officer Tim LaGesse observed a white Range Rover speeding and disregard a stop sign. LaGesse conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Rose Drive and North Stadium.

A strong odor of marijuana was detected from the vehicle. The officer asked the driver, Isaac Anthony Aguilar and his passenger to exit the vehicle.

According to the report, during a consented search the officer discovered 11 Xanex pills, a loaded pistol magazine in the console, an unloaded pistol in the glove box and a white pill bottle with marijuana.

Aguilar was arrested and transported to the Jim Wells County jail.

He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful carry of a weapon.

Nurse assaulted

Officer Orlando Jasso was dispatched to the 600 block of West Front Street for an assault on Friday. On arrival the officer made contact with the suspect and patient Gloria Rodriguez. Rodriguez sat calmly while she spoke with staff.

Rodriguez arrived to receive a medical injection. After Rodriguez received her injection she asked to speak to one of the nurses.

According to the report, when the nurse (victim) approached Rodriguez the suspect began to verbally attack her and then pinned her against the wall in a “head lock.”

The victim received several punches to the face before other staff members could separate the two women.

Rodriguez was transported to the JWC jail and charged with assault causing bodily injury.
