The Alicia Salinas City of Alice Public Library held Teen Day on Monday afternoon with games, activities and prizes.

The purpose of Teen Day is to get teens into the library, said Library Director Jeanie Bertuca.

“We have a lot of programs for children and not enough directed to teenagers or adults,” Bertuca stated. “We started this program in hopes that we get teenagers into the building.”

Teen Day has had a good turn out over the last four months, she said.

The teenagers in attendance on Monday ranged from 13 to 15. They recycled materials such as two-liter soda bottles to make penguins with construction paper and paint.

The next Teen Day is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 8 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Teenagers from 13 to 18 are welcomed.
