This season, I have joined Gulf Coast Bird Observatory’s coastal biologist Taylor Bennett in monitoring Matagorda Beach and Sargent Beach for nesting Wilson’s Plovers and least terns. During a recent survey of Colorado River Mouth Flats along Matagorda Beach, Taylor and I encountered another amazing bird -a reddish egret!
The grand jury for the 79th District Court recently indicted Miguel Casarez for indecency with a child - sexual contact. Casarez, 50, was indicted on April 21 for the second degree felony.
Department of Public Safety troopers recently seized close to half a million dollars from an 18-wheeler during a commercial vehicle safety inspection, according to the DPS Facebook page. On Monday, May 2, a trooper conducted a traffic stop on Highway 281 to conduct a commercial vehicle safety inspection.
