Four suspects arrested after West Dix Street raid

SAN DIEGO - Four people were recently booked into the Duval County jail after investigators located drugs and guns at a home on the 100 block of West Dix Street. On May 7, the Duval County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Moe Saavedra and deputies with the assistance of Benavides and San Diego Police Department, and Brooks County Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics search warrant at the residence.

BBB Scam Alert: 30% of employment scams occur in summer

The beginning of summer brings an influx of job-seeking students looking to capitalize on their free time by earning money over their three-month break. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, most of these students find employment in the accommodations and food service industry, with a little over half (54 percent) of 16- to 24-year-olds employed in July 2021, an 8 percent increase from 2020 levels. Unfortunately, con artists are well-versed in creating job postings that seem legitimate and are often tailored to appeal to first-time workers and students.

Elder Fraud: If a Former FBI/CIA Director Can Be Targeted, So Can You

“If it can happen to me, it can happen to you,” warns former FBI and CIA Director William Webster in a video message that urges older people and their loved ones to be wary of elder fraud schemes. In 2021, over 92,000 victims over the age of 60 reported losses of $1.7 billion to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). This represents a 74 percent increase in losses over losses reported in 2020.
