The Alice Fire Department hosted a two-day City of Alice Stop the bleeding training. On Thursday, a handful of people were trained on the correct way to help someone bleeding from a wound.

HOUSTON - A state-of-the-art mobile simulation training unit designed to enhance high-level adult and pediatric emergency medicine care is coming to UTHealth Houston. Thanks to a $500,000 donation from the Wyatt Ranches, the Department of Emergency Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston unveiled the UTHealth Houston Mobile Simulation Training Unit — a high-fidelity mobile unit equipped with state-of-the-art medical training equipment, lifelike manikins, and simulation technology — at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, June 7, in Webber Plaza, on the campus of McGovern Medical School.

MATHIS - Several volunteer firefighters from South Texas were recently out at Camp Karankawa cleaning camp grounds for summer camp-goers. They cut grass and hauled off brush.

At Gulf Coast Bird Observatory, we are researching beach-nesting birds and the obstacles that they face. We are excited to add a new aspect to our study this year: light-level geolocators! The main monitoring sites we are focused on for this project are Matagorda Beach and Sargent Beach.
