ORANGE GROVE - The Orange Grove Museum received extensive damage in a fire on April 17. On Wednesday, May 4, the Orange Grove Area Museum Board had three priorities in response to the devastating fire.

Schallert Elementary pre-kinder students recently took a field trip to the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi. The students learned at the different types of sea life native to the Coastal Bend.

SAN DIEGO - There are an abundance of dogs and puppies housed at the San Diego Animal Control Shelter and they are in need of homes. Officer Luis Barrera said the dogs need to be rescued or adopted before he has to put them down.

Alice Independent School District held a Wellness Family Fun Walk on Friday, April 29 at the Memorial Stadium. The wellness walk was free for all. Students, parents and staff took in the fresh air as they were treated with different activities and snacks. The event was hosted by the ACE program and Alice ISD.

Students from San Diego High School toured the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel on Thursday, April 28 as a career exploration event in the Leisure and Hospitality industry, specifically Culinary Arts . As intermediary for South Texas Career Connection, Workforce Solutions Coastal Bend coordinated with Omni Corpus Christi Hotel for 20 Culinary Arts juniors and seniors from San Diego High School to tour the main restaurant, 3rd floor banquet area and fine dining at the Republic of Texas.

FREER - A beloved and dedicated former Freer Independent School District employee was recently honored with the unveiling of a new sign on the campus named after her. The campus, Lucy Aragon Junior High, will adorn the new sign in remembrance of Lucy Aragon.
