A mental health awareness fundraiser will be held by the Alice YMCA of the Coastal Bend on Saturday, May 21. The fundraiser has an entry fee of $10 per person and $5 for children three and below.

SAN DIEGO - A new tradition began on Thursday afternoon at San Diego High School with the first ever top 10 students luncheon. The top 10 students for the Class of 2022 are Valedictorian Alejandra Lea Trevino, Salutatorian Larissa Saenz, three - Andres Garza, four - Karissa Zotter, five - Corey Lazo, six - Eliana Vidal, seven - Elia Soliz, eight - Brandon Barrera, nine - Jocelyn Torres and 10 - Asher Gonzalez.

BENAVIDES - The Class of 2022 Benavides High School seniors and the kindergarten students walked had the annual Senior Walk with Kindergarten graduates. .

House number 19 for Jim Wells County Habitat for Humanity was turned over to the new homeowners, Cassandra Lopez Espinoza, Jacob Espinoza and their two daughters. The Espinoza’s house is a dream come true, said Cassandra when they received the news about their new home.

A bright sunny day helped kickoff the summer in Alice with an event at Lake Findley on Saturday, May 14. The free event was hosted by the Alice Green Alliance and the City of Alice.

Jeremiah Luna of San Diego graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science from Chadron State College May 7. The college hosted a combined ceremony to honor students earning bachelor’s degrees.

Alice High School AFJROTC Senior Leadership Retreat was recently held in New Braunfels. They participated in various activities where cadets were reinforcing skills they learned over the past few years.
