Alice Fire and Police Departments held safety training exercises for teachers and staff at St. Elizabeth Catholic School, and Alice and San Diego Independent School Districts this week in preparation for the 2022-2023 school year. Safety training exercises by first responders included Stop the Bleed and Active Shooter sessions.

The Cortez and the Alice HUB City Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday evening to celebrate the re-grand opening of their new establishment.
KINGSVILLE - The 2022 Upward Bound Summer Program at Texas A&M University - Kingsville ended on Saturday, July 30 with a banquet for the students and their families. Students who participated in the program got the chance to take lessons at the university and learn in various programs offered by the university such as journalism and art.

So far this year, donations and grants from the Wyatt Ranches Foundation and Wyatt Ranches, directed to South Texas organizations in need, have exceeded $1,480,000. During the last board of directors meeting, held in Agua Dulce during July, an allocation of $75,000 was awarded to the Pony League of Orange Grove.
SAN DIEGO - At a San Diego Independent School board meeting held on Wednesday, July 20, Albert Martinez from the office of Congressman Vicente Gonzalez recognized the board of trustees. Martinez presented the school board the Congressional Record award for being chosen as School Board of the Year for 2021 by the Education Service Center 2 and 2021 Regional Honor Board of Texas by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA).
