ORANGE GROVE - On Thursday, Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa joined the parishioners of the St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove to help distribute food provided by the Coastal Bend Food Bank.

CORPUS CHRISTI – At the beginning of August, Nueces County first responders worked with the TX National Guard’s 6th Civil Support Team conducting a joint Hazmat and Law Enforcement exercise at the Texas State Aquarium as well as the Hilltop Community Center in Corpus Christi. The purpose of the exercise is to establish and refine valuable partnerships between local, state, and federal agencies in responding to incidents involving hazardous materials that may overwhelm local resources. The exercise is not COVID related and has been scheduled since earlier this year.
CORPUS CHRISTI – Every two seconds, someone in the United States requires life-saving donated blood or platelets. To meet this need, the Coastal Bend Blood Center (CBBC) has partnered with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to turn Islanders into Collegiate Heroes. The program was launched on Aug. 29 with an on-campus blood drive.
The ExxonMobil Engineering Scholarship Program is accepting applications and is intended to assist and encourage outstanding Hispanic college freshmen who plan to pursue a degree in engineering at U. S. post-secondary institutions. The program is sponsored by the Exxon Mobil Foundation and is administered by the LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC).

Coastal Bend College is preparing for their annual Trunk or Treat event to be held Thursday, Oct. 27 at the college.
On Saturday, Aug. 20, First Baptist Church Alice had their Men’s Breakfast with special guest speaker Alice Police Chief Eden Garcia.
Alice Fire Chief Patrick Thomas and his firefighters recently visited William Adams Middle School for Firefighter Friday. The firefighters greeted students with smiles and high fives and handed out fire and Coyote swag bracelets.
