Corpus Christi gives fire truck to San Diego Volunteer Dept.

CORPUS CHRISTI - The city of Corpus Christi donated a fire truck to the San Diego Volunteer Fire Department March 31. As part of the Helping Hands Program, managed by the Texas A&M Forest Service, Mayor Paulette Guajardo, City Manager Peter Zanoni and Fire Chief Robert Rocha handed over the keys to San Diego Fire Chief Juan Soliz.

Benavides woman dies in car crash in Nueces County

CORPUS CHRISTI – A car accident on Monday, April 4, at the intersection of Farm-to-Market 665 and FM 666 claimed the life of a 90-year-old Benavides woman, according to Trooper Christopher Olivarez with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Maria Garza Bazan

BENAVIDES, TEXAS - Maria Garza Bazan, age 85, passed away April 1, 2022 in San Diego, Texas. She was born July 29, 1936 in Benavides, Texas to Agustine and Escolastica Garza. Maria was born and raised at the ranch and grew to love the ranch life. She loved taking care of people, cooking, and the company of her children. One of her many joys was attending bingos. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Evette Martinez

Evette Martinez passed away on March 24, 2022, at the age of 33. She was a loving daughter, companion, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Jacob Edward Hinojosa

ALICE - Jacob Edward Hinojosa passed away unexpectedly on March 26, 2022, at the age of 41. Jacob was born on March 27, 1980, in Nuernberg, Bavaria, Germany to Juan Hinojosa Jr. and Charmyn Lee Henschel.

David Ricardo Garcia

ALICE - David Ricardo Garcia, age 62, passed away on April 01, 2022 at Christus Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. He passed peacefully with his wife Linda and his God daughter Becky and other loved ones at bedside. David, known to family and friends as Ricky, was born November 17, 1959, in Abilene, Texas. Adopted at age of 6 months by Rev. Ernesto Garcia and Isaura Sanchez Garcia, they brought him into a Christian home and was raised in the ways of God and his mighty promises. He was taught that nothing was impossible and that all the riches of the earth had already been promised him. With his strong faith he faced the world daily and always knew that he had a praying family at home. David is proceeded in death by his father Ernesto Garcia, mother Isaura S Garcia, brother Ernesto Garcia Jr, brother Victoriano & wife Martha Garcia, great-niece Alyssa Trejo, niece Sandra Jimenez, nephews Joey and Gabriel Garcia, father in law Guillermo Medrano Sr and brother in law Guillermo Jr. Survivors include: wife Linda Medrano Garcia the love of his life of Alice, Step-son Ricky Lopez (Odette Gonzalez) of Alice, Sisters Yolanda (Pastor Domingo) Vela of Alice, Tina (Rogelio) Trevino of Keller, Tx, Mother in law Amada R. Medrano of Alice, Sister-in-laws Norma Doucette of Alice, Frances (Mike) Ayala of Banquete, Lilly Medrano of Kingsville, god children Becky (Jason) Cadena & Jesimeil of Alice, Jennifer (Chris Dominguez) Ibanez and Jessica (Armando) Carbajal of Richmond, Tx, Joann Jaso of W. Virginia whom called him Dad and numerous nephews and nieces. David and his Red Pole Truck were well known by others Truck Drivers in the Oil Field Industry. At the age of 18, with the sudden passing of his father, he went straight into the Oil Field. He quickly learned and started to maneuver his way around the Oil Field. His 35 yrs of Truck driving included Alice Specialty, Tetra and Acme where he retired due to health conditions in 2011. Often he’d say he didn’t just like his job, he loved it. Both Clients and Employers knew that David made the impossible happen and grew to depend on his daring side. Along with trucking another passion was playing his guitar. Clients understood his dedication to God and waited till after service for their jobs. In his retired years he spend much time playing his guitars until his amputations on his finger. He improvised and continued to play at church to honor the Lord. When his nephews would visit all the guitars came out and Church was in the living room. David will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will be remembered for his passion for music and the Red Pole Truck zipping through Texas.

Gary Wayne Gold

September 7, 1960 – March 28, 2022 At midnight the Lord’s Chariot of Angels descends down to carry the spirit of the believers as they pass on to eternal life. For our beloved Gary this came on March 28, 2022. Born September 7th,1960 in San Antonio, Gary would attend elementary and middle school at St. Mary Magdalen Private School and graduate from Lee High School. He would go on to attend UTSA where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business with a concentration in accounting. In September 1989, Gary became a Certified Public Accountant.

SAN DIEGO - Prizes, plastic eggs, face painting and the Easter Bunny were just a few off the activities at the Vera's Trucking Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 3. Giveaways for the children included baby chicks, bikes, baskets and scooters.
