Texas Motorcyclist deaths on the rise
AUSTIN – One evening in April 2021, Eric Newell was out for a ride in Houston when his motorcycle was rear-ended by a vehicle, breaking both of his legs, dislocating his hips and injuring his back and hands. He is just one of 2,318 Texas motorcyclists seriously injured in crashes last year.
Bridging Families – Izabella
Thousands of children in Texas are in need of a family to call their own. Ten-year-old Izabella “Izzy” is an independent child who enjoys being entertained with one of her most preferred toys, her iPad.
SDHS students tour hotel
Students from San Diego High School toured the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel on Thursday, April 28 as a career exploration event in the Leisure and Hospitality industry, specifically Culinary Arts . As intermediary for South Texas Career Connection, Workforce Solutions Coastal Bend coordinated with Omni Corpus Christi Hotel for 20 Culinary Arts juniors and seniors from San Diego High School to tour the main restaurant, 3rd floor banquet area and fine dining at the Republic of Texas.
Dedication of Lucy Aragon Junior High
FREER - A beloved and dedicated former Freer Independent School District employee was recently honored with the unveiling of a new sign on the campus named after her. The campus, Lucy Aragon Junior High, will adorn the new sign in remembrance of Lucy Aragon.

ORANGE GROVE - Orange Grove FFA members recently assisted in Ag Adventure Day at the Orange Grove Elementary. Chapter officers facilitated workshops on horse care, tractors, gardening, ag products, and FFA for all third, fourth and fifth graders.

SDISD Special Field Day
SAN DIEGO - There was an excitement in the air as parents watched their children participate in the first Special Field Day at the San Diego Vaquero Stadium. On Tuesday morning, students from San Diego, Premont, Benavides, Freer and Hebbronville took to the track for a run.
