New Military Signs at Veterans Park

New military signs were unveiled on Friday, May 27 at the Veterans Park located on Alto Street. The signs were unveiled in honor of Memorial Day by city officials and veterans.

PAGA Golf Tournament

The Alice Municipal Golf Course recently hosted The Pan American Golf Association (PAGA) Golf Tournament. There were nearly 50 players for the day.

City of Alice gains three additional Certified Fire Inspectors

For the first time in the history of the city, the Alice Fire Department now has four certified fire inspectors- an increase from just one certified fire inspector. Three Alice firefighters recently earned a Certification from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection as Certified Fire Inspectors.

City presents Motorcycle Awareness Proclamation

The City of Alice Mayor Cynthia Carrasco presented the Alice Mongols Texas Boom Squad a proclamation on Wednesday, May 25 for Motorcycle Awareness. May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reminds vehicle drivers and motorists that safe driving and riding practices and cooperation from all road users will help reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on the nation’s highways, according to the United States Department of Transportation.

Agua Dulce ISD summer meals

Most area schools ended the year and students will be home for the summer months. Agua Dulce Independent School District announced the summer meal programs starting Wednesday, June 1.

Preparing for hurricane season

Hurricane season begins on June 1, and forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are predicting above-normal hurricane activity in 2022. NOAA predicts, with a 70% confidence, there could be as many as 21 named storms this year, with three to six being classified as a major hurricane (category 3, 4 or 5). With over 350 miles of coastline in Texas, it is important that residents and businesses located in highrisk areas take proactive steps to prepare for the potential of hurricanes.

Alice Multi-Use Complex open for summer

The summer heat of South Texas is here and local residents can head to the Alice Multi-Use Complex for the summer months. Starting June 1, the YMCA of Alice - Coastal Bend has the indoor and outdoor pools available.
