Work Force Solutions hosts job fair

More than a dozen businesses were at the Coastal Bend College Thursday morning for a job fair hosted by the Work Force Solutions of the Coastal Bend. Job seekers filed in to the event with resumes in had at the chance to start a career with business such as Guadalupe Hacienda, REAL Transportation, FDF Energy Services, Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office, Meridian Care, and more.

Collins, New Collins Cemetery Clean Up

Gil TR Garcia recently coordinated a cemetery cleanup at the Collins and New Collins Cemetery off of Flourney Street. Garcia along with family, friends, and other community members volunteered to help cut grass and pick up trash.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar, State Sen. Joan Huffman Support Repeal of Sales Tax on Feminine Hygiene Products

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today that he has joined with state Sen. Joan Huffman, Senate Committee on Finance chairwoman, to exempt feminine hygiene products from state and local sales tax. The effort will require new legislation and would likely not be finalized until the 2023 legislative session. Hegar and Huffman voiced strong support for the initiative.
