In addition to his wife, David leaves behind his daughters Susan Hale (Donald) Scheffler, Gail Degenhart (Brian) Moore, and Lara Degenhart (Sean) Cassidy; eight accomplished and active grandchildren: Caroline Scheffler, George Scheffler, John (Holly) Moore, Sarah Grace Moore, William Moore, Margaret Moore, Elizabeth Moore, and Catherine Cassidy; predeceased by his two brothers, Frank Hale and Jerry Hale, and a sister, Ju Laine Hale.

Astros ace Verlander placed on IL with calf injury

HOUSTON (AP) — Houston Astros ace Justin Verlander, a leading candidate for the AL Cy Young Award, has been placed on the injured list with a right calf injury. The team announced the move Tuesday and said that an MRI done on the calf Monday revealed fascial disruption, but no muscle fiber disruption.

Consuelo G. Benavides, 78, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at an Alice Nursing home surrounded by her family. Consuelo, better known by her family as “Maestra” (Teacher), was born on June 11, 1944 in Palito Blanco, Texas to Paulino V. Gonzalez and Estela Ruiz Gonzalez. Consuelo enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved dancing, scratching her lottery tickets, watching novelas, and talking on the phone. Most of all, she loved caring for her grandchildren. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving person and always full of happiness. She was a small structure woman build, but with a big heart. She will be deeply missed by family and friends as she walks through the pearly gates and arrives at her mansion in heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Estela Gonzalez; the father of her children, Teofilo Benavides Sr.; a great-grandchild, Ismael Alvarez Jr. and a nephew, David Andrew Villagran. She is survived by her children: one son, Teo (Prissy) Benavides of Alice; four daughters, Rosa Linda (Sal) Arredondo of Alice, Irene (Israel) Garza of Alice, Irma (Rene) Gomez of Alice, and Cynthia (Joe) Ramirez of San Antonio; five brothers, Valdemar R. Gonzalez (Diana) of Austin, Ruben R. Gonzalez (Margie) of Alice, Conrado R. Gonzalez (Blanca) of Alice, Ricardo R. Gonzalez (Eliza) of Alice, and Arturo R.
