Larry Brown speaks at BGCA fundraiser

Former Dallas Cowboy, three-time Super Bowl Champion and Most Value Player Larry Brown was the special guest at the 28th annual Steak and Burger Dinner for the Boys and Girls Club of Alice. Brown was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 12th round of the 1991 National Football League draft.

Vaqueros take first loss of the season to Bulldogs

ORANGE GROVE - The San Diego Vaqueros traveled to Orange Grove Friday, Sept. 23 for the football game. The game was a non-district game and was the first loss of the season for the Vaqueros. The final score was Orange Grove Bulldogs 27, San Diego Vaqueros 6.

Maria ”Minnie” Minerva Salinas

Maria Minerva Salinas “Minnie”, age 71, passed away September 16, 2022 in Alice, Texas. She was born May 27, 1951 in Freer, Texas to Antonio Vasquez Martinez and Nicolasa “Nancy” Martinez. Minnie previously worked as a dietician for P&S Hospital for 20 years and later began working for Christus Spohn Alice for 10 years. She enjoyed western movies and was an avid Elvis fan. Minnie will forever be remembered for directive orders and her joking sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and

Alice HS Swim Team

The Alice High School swim team jumped into the pool last week in a dual meet against Calallen. AHS had a strong outing, highlighted by the following performances: Girls 200 Medley Relay-1st place (Jade Garcia, Caitlynn Rubio, Daniella Tunchez, Emily Rubio); Boys 200 Medley Relay-1st place (Emerico Perez, Asher Springs, Wesley Mcintyre, Jaden Molina); Caitlynn Rubio, Wesley Mcintyre placed 3rd in the 50 Freestyle; Emily Rubio placed 3rd in the 100 Freestyle; Jaden Molina placed 1st while Zander Urrutia placed 2nd in the 100 freestyle; Girls 200 Freestyle Relay placed 2nd (Lorena Gonzalez, Caitlynn Rubio, Danilella Tunchez, Jade Garcia); Boys 200 Freestyle Relay placed 1st (Zander Urrutia, Jose Salinas, Ezekiel Martinez, Asher Springs) and 3rd (Nicholas Deleon, Anthony Gomez, Jason Molina, Jake Molina); Jade Garcia placed 2nd in the 100 backstroke & Emily Rubio placed 3rd; Jason Molina placed 2nd in the 100 backstroke & Wesley Mcintyre placed 3rd; Caitlynn Rubio placed 2nd in the 100 breaststroke; Emerico Perez placed 1st in the 100 Breaststroke and our 400 Freestyle Relay placed 1st (Emerico Perez, Asher Springs, Wesley Mcintyre, Jaden Molina).
