MLB crowds jump from ‘21, still below pre-pandemic levels

PHOENIX (AP) — Even with the homer heroics of sluggers like Aaron Judge and Albert Pujols, Major League Baseball wasn’t able to coax fans to ballparks at pre-pandemic levels this season, though attendance did jump substantially from the COVID-19 affected campaign in 2021.

Ponciano G. “Chicho” Ramos Jr.92 years of age passed away September 30, 2022, at his residence with his family by his bedside. Ponciano was a loving brother, father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He was born on May 9, 1930, in Alice, Texas to Ponciano and Paula Gonzalez Ramos. He worked as a truck driver in the oil industry for many years. Ponciano enjoyed the outdoors and ranch life, he worked on the family ranch from Sunrise to Sunset. He enjoyed having his family together and spending time with his family at the ranch and sharing childhood memories and past times. He will be remembered as a great provider for his family and always ready to lean a helping hand. He leaves us to be reunited with his parents, His loving wife Maria Luisa Ramos, One granddaughter Marisa Salinas, Grandson Jesse Villanueva, One son Joe Gil Pagan, and one son in law George Hernandez III. To cherish his memories, he leaves three daughters: Gladys (Ines) Salinas, Evangelina Hernandez, and Irma V. Morgan all of Alice, Texas, one sister Luciana Guzman of McKinny, Texas, 13 Grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren and Numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends and relatives at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday October 6,2022 at Rosas Funeral Home. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Friday October 7, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at The Roberson- Collins Cemetery Rosas Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.

Island University’s Annual SUPCE to Focus on Teacher Shortage

CORPUS CHRISTI – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is hosting its annual School and University Partnership Conference of Education (SUPCE) on campus Saturday, Oct. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The conference is designed for all those involved with educator preparation, including current and future teachers, professors, school administrators, and community partners. SUPCE 2022 seeks to explore the myriad factors contributing to the evolution of teacher shortage, as well as identify ways that university and school partnerships can improve the preparation and development of the profession of teaching.
