A loud bang on Christmas morning at a residence on the 1400 block of Guadalupe Street caught the attention of an off-duty officer near by.

Officer Rene Garcia, off-duty, was sitting outside with a friend when he heard a bang next door and went to investigate. According to the officer's report, he observed two male subjects attempting to kick the door down.

Garcia drew his gun and held Isaac Bueno Jr., 31, and a 16-year-old boy until officers could arrive at the scene. According to Garcia's report, the juvenile wore a mask and was in possession of a loaded rifle. The rifle had five bullets.

Bueno told the off-duty officer, he was at the residence to speak to the homeowner's grandson about a stolen safe.

Bueno was taken to the Jim Wells County jail and the juvenile was transported to a juvenile detention facility in Corpus Christi.

Bueno was charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony.

Grandkids report grandfather's behavior

Officer John De Leon was dispatched to the 200 block of Presnall on Thursday night in reference to an assault.

The officer spoke with two children at the residence who stated their grandfather choked their grandmother. De Leon made contact with the victim who stated Ramiro Ramirez began an argument with her, threw her to the ground and choked her, report stated.

Ramirez was arrested and transported to the JWC jail. He was charged with assault family violence impede breath.

Ex-boyfriend drama

Jose A. Cuevas was arrested on Wednesday afternoon for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he pulled out a knife at his ex-girlfriend's place of employment.

Officer Jesse Garza was dispatched to the 700 block of East Main Street for a disturbance. He was advised that Cuevas was apprehended on Texas Boulevard.

According to Garza's report, Cuevas went to the business to see his ex-girlfriend and confronted the girlfriend's current boyfriend who was outside on a break.

Cuevas went inside to speak with his ex-girlfriend. Employees asked Cuevas to leave several times.

According to the report, Cuevas pulled out a pocket knife as he walked towards the ex-girlfriend.

Employees were able to disarm Cuevas. When Cuevas left the business the manager followed him and called the police.

He was taken to the police department for processing before he was transported to the JWC jail.
