Phil Adams, 90, of Alfred, Texas passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born February 10, 1925 on the Adams Ranch in Alfred, Texas to Bernard and Frankie Ayers Adams.
His great loves were his devoted wife of 66 years, Leola Smith Adams and his cows. He was a lifelong rancher and once said, “If you have a good horse, a good dog, and are chasing about ten cows, it’s music to your ears”. He enjoyed coffee time in the feed store on Saturdays and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Phil served in the 391st Engineering Company during the Korean War.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Terry Ann Galloway.
He is survived by his loving wife, Leola Adams of Alfred, one son, Rob (Phyllis) Adams of Alfred, and two daughters, Tancy (David) Herschap of Orange Grove and Tammy (Jeff) Hahn of Alfred. His greatest joys were his five granddaughters, Jessie (David) Contreras, Hailey (Robert) Galvan, Katy (Luzio) Lamb, and Whitley (Anthony Rodriguez) and McKenzie Hahn, and two grandsons, David L. Herschap and Rydr (Briana) Brummett, great-grandchildren, Layla Contreras, Jordan, Kera and Mason Galvan, Luzio II and Vincent Lamb, Dallas Brummett, and Harper Rodriguez who will bless us in February 2016, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Holmgreen Mortuary. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Holmgreen Mortuary. Burial will follow at the Adams Family Cemetery in Alfred, Texas.
