George F. Merzbacher Jr., 85, formerly of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at his residence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. George was born on January 27, 1930 to George F. Merzbacher, Sr. and Frances Mitchell Merzbacher in Dallas, Texas.

After high school, George attended Texas A & M University earning a degree in Agriculture. He served as Captain U. S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. He was General Manager of Hughes Tool Company until his retirement. George was a member of Calallen Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, was a gun builder and reloader, and was a pilot.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Frances Merzbacher, and his wife, Sandra Merzbacher.

George leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, George "Trey" F. Merzbacher, III and wife Polly; his grandchildren Kellie, Gina, Christina and Joshua Merzbacher, Andrew Duczer, Ashley Bailey and husband Ryan; his great-grandchildren Joshlyn, Kendall and Margaret Tinsley, Gage, Cadence and Adelyn Duczer, Emalee Blanchard and Madison Bailey; one sister, Betty Roseburg; loving niece Pamela Baker and great-niece Alexandra Baker.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. with former Pastor of Calallen Baptist Church, Jack Willoughby, officiating. Interment will follow at Alice Cemetery in Alice, Texas.
