Name and rank
Cynthia Kriby, records clerk
Number of years with Alice Police Department
I have been with APD for a year and nine months.
Number of years of experience total. Where?
This is my first law enforcement related job.
What made you want to be in law enforcement?
When I was little I wanted to be a first responder of some kind. As I grew up I knew that being a first responder was not my career path. However, being a records clerk is interesting, fun and very rewarding.
I still get to work with people that I have always admired.
Does your family support your career choice?
My family is very supportive and tell me they are proud of me.
What's the most rewarding part of your job?
It may seem like a boring job just sitting behind a desk. I file paperwork for citizens but I also file paperwork for different courts. Doing the paperwork ensures that everything gets to the right personal regardless of what court.
What do you believe is the hardest part of your job? Why?
I have to figure ways to vent about my job without disclosing things that happen around the station especially when we hear about violent crimes.
We help people that come to the office and make sure they speak to the right people. We can't do much behind our desks.
While we can't arrest anyone we must make sure that all paperwork is correct and in order before it goes to court. While we play a small minor part in the justice system we do help put criminals behind bars.
