Velma T. Franco, 49, passed away December 9, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born February 22, 1966 to Rosendo Torres Jr. and Estella Torres and raised in Alice, Texas. She graduated from Alice High School in 1984. Velma married her husband of 30 years on May 17, 1985 then renewed their vows through the Sacrament of Matrimony on May 22, 2010. Velma was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and daughter as well as a fulltime wife, mother, and grandmother. Every Sunday night belonged to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending all her free time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her love of laughter, devotion to family, and her brutally blunt personality. She was a woman you remembered; she was everyone’s backbone and best friend.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Rosendo Torres Jr. and Estella Torres; and a great grandson, Ricky Martinez Jr. “R.J.”.

Velma is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Isauro Franco Jr.; six daughters, Monica Garcia of San Antonio, Texas, Bambi (Librado) Lopez of Alice, Texas, Penny (Ramiro Jr.) Villarreal of Alice, Texas, Andrea Franco of Alice, Texas, Victoria Franco of Alice, Texas and Joanna Moreno of Falfurrias, Texas; one son, Isauro Franco III of Alice, Texas; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia (Oscar) Maldonado of San Diego, Texas and Sandra Salinas of Alice, Texas; three brothers, Ricardo (Anna) Torres of Kingsville, Texas, Victor (Kelly) Torres of Fort Worth, Texas and Rolando (Cindy) Torres Sr. of San Diego, Texas; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2015, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary being held at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Roberson Collins Cemetery.
