Enrique Saenz is currently a Sergeant with the Alice Police Department assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. He has been a sworn officer for 27 years and holds a Masters Peace Officers License. Mr. Saenz began his career in 1988, with the Premont Police Department. In 1997, he was hired by the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy. During his 10 years with the department he climbed the ladder all the way up to Captain. He left the department as Captain for the Criminal Investigation Division and Commander of the S.W.A.T. team. In March of 2007, he was hired by the Alice Police Department as a patrol officer. After five years was promoted to Corporal then Sergeant.
Family is his best asset, according to Mr. Saenz. He receives their full support with any project he pursues. Enrique has been married to Maria Rangel Saenz for 19 years. Together they are the proud parents of Zita Ramirez, Michael Saenz, Megan Saenz, Renee Ramirez, and Daniel Saenz. They are blessed with one beautiful granddaughter, Hailey Ann Adami. Enrique is the son of the late Belisario and Rosa Vasquez Saenz, and has four sisters Diane Saenz, Gloria Saenz, both of Premont, Becky (Louie) Chapa, and the late Maria Saenz.
During his time with the Alice Police Department he was elected and currently remains the president of the Alice Police Officers Association. Enrique has assisted in bargaining with City officials to come to a fair contract for the Civil Service employees, and with projects such as, Shop with a Cop, Toy Drive, Merchant Bash, National Night Out, Back to School bash. He and his family believe in giving back to the community and being proactive.
Through his 27 years Mr. Saenz has been a patrol officer, narcotics officer, canine handler, S.W.A.T. officer and commander, Criminal Investigator, Supervisor and Administrator. He has authored policy and procedures and believes in the need for structure. He holds multiple certificates pertaining to Law Enforcement and has over 1,200 Continuing Education Hours.
He is fully aware of what comes with the job as Sheriff and is confident he can make a difference with his knowledge and experience. Together with the aid of Deputies and the citizens of Jim Wells County, we can educate and implement new ideas to get Jim Wells County back on track.
