While Officer Jose Saldivar was on patrol at the intersection of Chaparral and South Reynolds on Wednesday he observed two passengers of a silver Hyundai Elantra without their seat belts.

The officer made a routine traffic stop and made contact with the four occupants of the vehicle. According to the report, the officer observed the backseat passenger, Angel Ruiz place an unknown object under the seat. 

Ruiz told the officer he had a marijuana roach. No other narcotics were discovered.

Ruiz was transported to the Jim Wells County jail and charged with possession of marijuana.

'He didn't do anything'

On Wednesday morning, Officer Julian Barrera was dispatched to the 600 block of Chaparral Street in reference to a fight in progress.

As Barrera approached the residence he observed a man, later identified as Justin Alex Garza over a woman as he shook her violently, report stated. 

Barrera placed Garza under arrest and in back of his patrol unit. The victim told the officer that Garza did not do anything, report stated.

Inside the unit Garza banged his head against the center partition of the unit. The suspect was taken to the JWC jail and charged with assault causing bodily injury family violence. 

Traffic stop arrest

A man was arrested on Tuesday night after a routine traffic stop on the 1100 block of Josephine Street.

Officer Jose Flores made contact with Ruben Bueno Jr., the driver of a black Ford truck who made an improper turn. 

While the officer spoke with Bueno, he detected a strong odor of marijuana.

According to Flores' report, Bueno stated a friend had smoked marijuana in the car earlier, but he did have a pipe in the vehicle. 

Bueno emptied the contents of his pockets which included a clear plastic bag of marijuana, report stated.

A search of the vehicle lead to the discovery of a glass pipe and joker brand papers.

Bueno was taken to the police department for processing. According to Officer Flores' report, after removing the suspect from his patrol unit he searched the back seat and found another plastic bag on the floor board.

Bueno was transported to the JWC jail and charged with possession of marijuana.
