The William Adams Middle School girls seventh grade A basketball team placed fifth at the Calallen tournament recently.

The team lost to Tuloso-Midway, 23-19, and then lost to St. James, 31-13, before beating Odem, 33-28.

Against Tuloso-Midway, Mia Longoria scored six points. Justine Alvarado and Jacqlyn Villarreal scored five each. In the St. James game, Villarreal, Mia Perez and Alvarado each scored three points.

Perez exploded for 17 points in the win against Odem.

The team is on the court against at 5 p.m. Monday against Tuloso-Midway.

• The WAMS girls eighth grade A team recently played in the Calallen tournament. The team began the tournament by losing to Tuloso-Midway, 28-10, and then lost to St. James by one, 24-23. They ended the tournament by losing to Calallen, 15-12.

Kayla Escobar and Hannah Rodriguez had seven points each.
