Marcelino “Gordo” Guerra Sr., 50, born June 27, 1965, went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2015. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved to spend most of his time with his grandchildren. He was a devoted Alice Coyotes and Dallas Cowboys fan, but a bigger fan of his grandchildren’s sports. He was a one of a kind and generous man who never hesitated to lend a hand. He was a roughneck by trade but a great handyman that always got the job done.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Julian Guerra; father, Filberto Guerra; mother, Rosa Guerra; brothers, Albert Salas, David Salas, Sixto Salas; and sister, Zulema Salas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Janie Guerra of Alice, Texas and his children, Marcelino Guerra Jr. (Priscilla) and their children, Taylor, Jazmin, and Ryan of Alice, Texas; Mark Guerra and his children, Jacob, Jordan, and Julian of Alice, Texas; Rosanna Guerra (Joe) and their children, Angel and Mia of Pleasanton, Texas; Roxanne Cuellar (Josh) and their children, Savanna, Joshua, and Victoria of Alice, Texas; Marci Guerra (Allen) and their child, Zack Rios of Alice, Texas; Alex Guerra (Brenda) and their child, Abrielle of Victoria, Texas, Lorenzo Guerra (Amber) and their child, Jayce of Victoria, Texas; Steve Martinez (Khloe) of Victoria, Texas; Lisa Lozano (David) and their children, Elisha and Charlie of Alice, Texas; Jessica Orozco (Jorge) and their children, Jesus, Brandon, Christian, and Ariana of Tomball, Texas and Roland Cruz (Stephanie) and their children, RJ, JT, Jaydon, Kaleigh, Kendall, Grayson of Alice, Texas. He’s also survived by his siblings, Janie Cruz (Gregorio) of Alice, Texas, Susanna Garza (Ruben) of Alice, Texas, Josie Delarosa (Frank) of Kingsville, Texas, Lupe Guerra of Alice, Texas and Martin Guerra of Alice, Texas.

Visitation will be held at Rosas Funeral Home in Alice, Texas on Sunday, October 25, 2015, from 5 to 9 p.m. with a Rosary being held at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on October 26, 2015, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at New Collins Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Christian Marshall, RJ Cruz and Jaydon Cruz. Pallbearers will be Greg Cruz Jr., Jesus Lopez III, Gabriel Chapa, Lupe Guerra Jr., Charlie Lozano, and Brandon Marshall.
